My wife, myself and our daughters. I shoot and edit, she edits and often does make up, and the kids… Well, they mostly help us spend money.
We work with other photographers and assistants when the job requires it, and also venture into video production from time to time.
I studied design and photography in Melbourne many many kilos ago. I had no notion of what being a photography professional would eventually mean, but I loved taking photos and had some great, extremely patient teachers.
Our business started overseas many years after I left Melbourne, when a colleague asked me to shoot a wedding. At the time I was deep in the world of management; I was hiring, training and sometimes firing people, wearing suits and ties that always seemed too short or too long, and traveling far too often and way too far.
After thinking about my colleague’s request for a long time, I had decided to decline. Our own bad experiences during our wedding had left us traumatized and I was unsure I could live up to the responsibility. Then she showed me the quality of photographers she was considering, and I knew I could do better. And that’s how we started. We worked hard, got great word of mouth and the weddings just kept on coming.
Now I’m home, and doing just what I prepared for so long ago, but a little wiser and more patient. The road has been long and quite curvy, but every step has helped make me a better photographer.
